rising to 270m at NW end of Robertson Island, Nordenskjöld Coast, and E-most of the Seal Nunataks (q.v.), was roughly charted as an island by Larsen, 11 December 1893, and later named Oceana-Insel after A/S Oceana, sealing and whaling company formed in 1887 by the Norwegian Chr. Christensen (Christensen Nunatak, q.v.) and the German C. Lindenberg (Lindenberg Island, q.v.), which despatched NWE, 1892-93 (Schück, 1894, p.139; Petersen, 1895a, p.264). IÎle Oceana (Gerlache, 1900a, map p.411). Oceana Island (BA chart 1238, iii.1901). The feature was surveyed by SwAE, 8 October 1902, and shown to be a nunatak. Oceana Nunatak (BA chart 3205, 31.x.1921; 2.ix.1938; APC, 1955, p.16; DOS 610 sheet W 65 58, 1961). Oceana-Øya (Aagaard, 1944, p.108). Roca Oceana (Chile. DNH chart LI, 1947). The nunatak was resurveyed by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in August 1947. Nunatak Oceana (Chile. IHA, 1974, p.215).

One of the Seal Nunataks, lying at the NW corner of Robertson Island, off the E coast of Antarctic Peninsula. Discovered by a Norwegian whaling expedition under C.A. Larsen in December 1893, and named after the Oceana Co. of Hamburg, a sponsor of the expedition.

Descubierto por la Expedición ballenera noruega, bajo el mando de C.A. Larsen, en diciembre de 1893; denominada así en honor a la Compañía Océana de Hamburgo, la cual contribuyó a la realización de la expedición. Nunatak situado al NW de la isla Robertson, costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins, forma parte de uno de los nunatak Seal.

Reported as an island but very likely the nunatak lying at the NW corner of Robertsoninsel, Robbeninseln, off the E coast of Antarctic Peninsula, Weddell Sea. Discovered during expedition 1893/94 (vessels 'Jason' and 'Hertha') under the Norwegian Captain Carl Anton Larsen, financed by the Hamburg Company Woltereck & Robertson.
