Wide embayment behind Lemaire and Bryde Islands, indenting the W coast of Graham Land between Duthiers and Leniz Points. The name was applied by whalers operating in this vicinity and was in use by 1920.

El nombre se lo dieron los balleneros que operaban en esta zona. El nombre actual es traducción (Paradise) y aparece registrado por primera vez en la carta levantada por la Expedición Antártica Belga de 1897-1899 por el teniente Adrien de Gerlache. Es posible que la conformación geológica y glaciológica del área, como asimismo lo benigno del clima reinante, haya inspirado a quienes la denominaron así. Amplia bahía situada detrás de las islas Lemaire y Bryde, en la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins, desde el cabo Lacaze-Duthiers en el NE de punta Léniz a 9 millas hacia el SW. La bahía se encuentra rodeada de elevadas montañas cubiertas completamente de hielo, de costas acantiladas formadas por barreras de hielo.
