Fue cartografiada y denominada por la Expedición Antártica Francesa, al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, en los años 1908-1810, en honor al estadista argentino Victorino de la Plaza. ministro de Relaciones Exteriores. Punta que se forma en el extremo S de la península rocosa que separa las ensenadas Mackellar y Martel, parte N de bahía Almirantazgo, en la isla Rey Jorge, de las islas Shetland del Sur.

S point of Keller Peninsula (q.v.), E entrance point of Mackellar Inlet and W entrance point of Martel Inlet, Admiralty Bay, King George Island, was charted by FAE, 1908-10, in December 1909 and named Pointe de la Plaza after Victorino de la Plaza (1840-1919), President of Argentina, 1916-19 (Charcot, 1912, Pl.1). Point forming the S tip of Keller Peninsula, which separates Mackellar and Martel Inlets in the N part of Admiralty Bay, on King George Island, in the South Shetland Islands. Charted and named by the FrAE under Charcot, 1908-10. The name suggests the central position of the feature at the head of Admiralty Bay.
