Strait about 80 mi long and from 4 to 15 mi wide, separating James Ross and Vega Islands from Trinity Peninsula. Discovered in October 1903 by the SwedAE under Nordenskjold, who named it for Crown Prince (later King) Gustav of Sweden.

Fue descubierto en octubre de 1903 por la Expedición Sueca al mando de Otto Nordenskjöld quien lo denominó así por el Príncipe Heredero (después Rey) Gustavo de Suecia. Alcanza una longitud de 80 millas y su ancho varía entre 4 y 15 millas, separa las islas Ross y Vega de la costa oriental de la península Luis Felipe, se abre entre el cabo Burd de la península Tabarín y el cabo Longing.
