S point of Doumer Island (q.v.), Palmer Archipelago, was charted by FAE, 1903-05, and named Pointe Py after M. Py, President, French Chamber of Commerce, Buenos Aires, at that time (Charcot, 1906b, p.472). Punta Py (García, 1948, p.102; Pierrou, 1970, p.611; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.233). Py Point (BA chart 3213, 6.x.1950; APC, 1955, p.17; BA chart 3572, 25.vii.1958).

Point forming the S extremity of Doumer Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. Discovered by the FrAE, 1903-05, and named by Charcot for Monsieur Py, president of the French Chamber of Commerce in Buenos Aires at that time.

Fue descubierta por la Expedición Francesa de 1903-1905 al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, quien le puso este nombre por el Sr. Py, en aquel tiempo presidente de la Cámara de Comercio Francesa en Buenos Aires. Esta punta tiene una longitud de 1 milla por 2,5 cables de ancho. Constituye el extremo S de la isla Doumer a 10 millas de la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
