Este islote presumiblemente fue conocido por los cazadores de focas de esta área en 1820, fue cartografiado y le dio este nombre descriptivo el personal de la Discovery II en 1935. Islote de forma piramidal y una elevación de 225 metros y de 926 metros de diámetro, situado a 2 millas al NNE de punta Williams, en isla Livingston, en islas Shetland del Sur.

rising to 205m NNE of Williams Point, Livingston Island, was roughly charted in 1820 by Fildes who recorded that "a large rock resembling Rock Dondo bore ESE and by us obtained that name ... it being easy and safe to approach and too remarkable to be mistaken" (Fildes, 1820-21). Felsen Dondo (Fildes, 1827, p.446). The rock was recharted by DI, 1934-35, and named descriptively Pyramid Island (Nelson and others, chart, 1935i; BA chart 1774, 9.vii.1948; APC, 1955, p.17; DOS 610 sheet W 62 60, 1968). Conspicuous, pillar-shaped island, 205 m high, lying 2 mi NNE of Williams Point, Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands. This island, presumably known to sealers in the area since about 1821, was charted and given this name by DI personnel on the Discovery II in 1935.
