in centre of Bourgeois Fjord, Fallières Coast, was surveyed by BGLE in 1936 and named descriptively (Rymill, 1938a, map facing p.432; BA chart 3196, 12.xi.1948; DCS 601 sheet 67 66, 1954; APC, 1955, p.18). Isla Cerro [=hill island] (Chile. DNH chart LIII, 1947). The island was resurveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island", 1948-49. Isla Ridge (Argentina. MM chart 109, 1949; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.242). Isla Caballete [translation of English name] (Argentina. MM, 1953, p.296; Pierrou, 1970, p.227).

A ridge-shaped island, 6 mi long and 1.5 mi wide lying 3 mi E of Pourquoi Pas Island in the center of Bourgeois Fjord, off the W coast of Graham Land. Discovered and named by the BGLE, 1934-37, under Rymill.

Fue descubierta por la Expedición Antártica Británica de los años 1934-1937, al mando de John Rymill, quien le dio el nombre isla Ridge (cerro), seguramente por su aspecto alto, montañoso y de cima aguda. En cartas chilenas del año 1947, figuró traducido como isla Cerro, pero desde 1962 se ha vuelto al nombre original. Ubicada al centro del seno Bourgeois, directamente al E de la isla Pourquoi-Pas, parte NE de la bahía Margarita. Mide unas 6 millas de largo en sentido NE-SW.
