NW entrance point of Bach Inlet, SW Alexander Island, was photographed from the air by RARE in December 1947; following map compilation from the air photographs by FIDS in 1959, named after Hector Berlioz (1803-69), French composer, in association with the names of other composers in this area ([in 72 10'S 73 36'W] APC, 1961, p.2; Searle, 1963, end map; [co-ordinates corrected from US LANDSAT imagery of January 1973] BAS 250P sheet SS 16-18/4, 1-DOS, 1974; APC, 1977, p.5). Punta Berliotz [sic] (Argentina. IGM map, 1966). Mys Berlioza (Soviet Union. AA, 1966, Pl. 24). Berloiz [sic] Point (USDMAAC chart JNC-117N, 1975).

Snow-covered point on the S side of Beethoven Peninsula, Alexander Island, marking the NW entrance point to the embayment occupied by Bach Ice Shelf. The S part of Alexander Island was first roughly mapped by the USAS in 1940, but this point was not clearly identified. It was mapped from air photos obtained by the RARE, 1947-48, by Searle of the FIDS in 1960. Named by UK-APC after Hector Berlioz (1803-69), French composer.

El nombre corresponde al apellido del cabo 1º (Rt) Jorge Muratto, de la Base Antártica Chilena Arturo Prat, quien participó en una expedición hidrográfica a la isla Robert, en 1949. Punta que constituye el límite NW de la entrada a la barrera de hielos Flores, en el lado SW de la isla Alejandro I.

An irregularly shaped lake consisting of three connected basins, orientated NE-SW, situated just west of Shield Lake on Broad Peninsula, Vestfold Hills. The lake was one of several lakes investigated by ANARE biologists wintering at Davis in 1974.
