One of the Balleny Islands, small, flat, and ice-covered, about 1/2 mile long and 180m high, lying about 1 mile south of Yound Island. Balleny, on 9 February 1839, assigned this name to an island which he reported to be about 10 miles north of Young Island. He named it for Mr J Row, one of the seven London merchants who united with Enderby Brothers in sending out the expedition. Since the island reported by Balleny has not been found by other explorers in the vicinity, the name was assigned to another island by the personnel of Discovery II in 1938.

A small island, less than 1 mi in diameter, which lies just off the SE end of Young Island in the Balleny Islands. John Balleny assigned the name in 1839 to an island which he reported to be 10 mi N of Young Island, naming it for J. Since the island reported by Balleny could not be found by other explorers in the vicinity, the name was assigned to this island discovered by the British ship Discovery II in 1936.
