on W side of Stefansson Sound, Wilkins Coast, was photographed from the air by Wilkins, 20 December 1928 (Wilkins, 1929, Fig. 23, p.369) and by Ellsworth, 21 November 1935 (Ellsworth, 1936b, p.7); following comparison of Wilkins' and Ellsworth's photographs, roughly located by Joerg (1937, Fig. 12, p.439 and map facing p.444); rephotographed from the air and surveyed from the ground by USAS in 1940, and named after J.R. Rymill (Rymill Bay, q.v.) (USAAF chart [LR-74], 1942; USHO, 1943, p.273; Bertrand and others, 1948, Fig. 1, p.483; APC, 1955, p.18; DCS 601 sheet 69 62, 1955; USGS sketch map Palmer Land (North Part), 1979). A steep, metamorphic rock cliff standing opposite the central part of Hearst Island and jutting out from the icecap along the E coast of Palmer Land. Named for John Rymill by members of the East Base of the USAS who charted this coast by land and from the air in 1940. Rymill was the leader of the BGLE, and in 1936 sledged eastward across Antarctic Peninsula to 6945S, 6328W.

El nombre fue puesto en 1940 por personal de la Base Este del USAS, en recuerdo de John R. Rymill, australiano, jefe de la Expedición Británica, 1934-1937, que en 1936 cruzó la península Tierra de O'Higgins hacia el este. Está situado a 26 millas al SE de cabo Huiks. Es un acantilado de piedra desnuda de 210 metros de altura, en la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
