A salt-water lake about 9 km ENE of Davis Station; nearly square shaped, and about 1.5 km wide. The lake appears to be the deepest, and is the lowest below sea level, of the chain of lakes extending eastward along Broad Peninsula in the Vestfold Hills. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1936-37). First visited by an ANARE party led by Phillip Law in January, 1955.

Este nombre fue colocado por el Instituto Hidrográfico de la Armada de Chile y corresponde al del buque español "San Telmo", que en su viaje al intentar la reconquista de Chile, al mando de Rosendo Porlier, en 1819, fue desviado hacia el S y se estrelló en la isla Livingstone, islas Shetland del Sur. Glaciar que desemboca hacia el mar de Weddell en un punto un poco al S de la península Dodson, en la costa oriental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
