rising to 880m on E side of Penola Strait, Graham Coast, was roughly mapped by FAE, 1908-10, in 1909 and named Massif Scott after Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, RN (1868-1912), British Antarctic explorer; Commander, British National Antarctic Expedition, 1901-04, and British Antarctic Expedition, 1910-13, who died on the Ross Ice Shelf, Ross Dependency, returning from the South Pole (q.v.) on or about 29 March 1912 (Charcot, 1912, Pl.3). Mount Scott (BA, 1930, p.86; chart 3196, 12.xi.1948; APC, 1955, p.19; DOS 610 sheet W6564, 1959). Mont Scott (France. SHM, 1937, p.408). Macízo Scott (Argentina. IGM map, 1946). Monte Scott (Argentina. MM chart 107, 1949; Pierrou, 1970, p.656; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.255). The mountain was photographed from the air by FIDASE, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by FIDS-RN in 1958. Massiccio Scott (Zavatti, 1958, Tav. 7).

Horseshoe-shaped massif, 880 m, open to the SW with its convex side fronting on Girard Bay and its NW side on Lemaire Channel, on the W coast of Graham Land. Discovered by the BelgAE, 1897-99. Mapped by Dr. Jean B. Charcot, leader of the FrAE, 1908-10, and named for Capt. Robert F. Scott, leader of the BrNAE, 1901-04.

Fue descubierto por la Expedición Belga al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache en 1897- 1899, denominado por la Expedición Francesa de 1908-1910, al mando del capitán Robert F. Scott, jefe de la Expedición Nacional Británica de la Antártica de 1901-1904, y de la Expedición Antártica Británica de 1910-1913, quien perdió la vida en marzo de 1912 en la jornada de regreso del polo Sur a donde él se había dirigido en 18 de enero de 1912. Macizo en forma de herradura de unos 882 metros de altura que se abre al SE con su lado NW dando al canal Lemaire en la costa W de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
