flowing W and WSW into Hughes Bay, Danco Coast, E of Sterneck Island, was photo- graphed from the air by FIDASE, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Portal Point", 1957-59; in association with the names of pioneers of aviation grouped in this area, named after Igor Ivan Sikorsky (1889-1972), American aircraft designer of Russian birth, who pioneered the design of helicopters from 1909 (APC, 1960, p.7; BA chart 3560, 7.iv.1961; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974).
