Named during expeditions conducted from 1982 to 1985, organized by the Geographical Institute of the University of Heidelberg and the Geomorphological Laboratory of the Freie Universtät Berlin.

One of the ANARE Nunataks, 1,980 m above sea level. Snow slopes extend to the summit on the north and west with exposed brown rock on the eastern side dropping sheer into an ice valley. Sighted by an ANARE party led by J.M. BĂ©chervaise on 30 November 1955. Named after L.N.Fox, weather observer and dog-man of the 1955 expedition to Mawson.
