A cluster of three small mountains extending 14 km in N-S direction, 5.5 km wide and rising to 1500 m (Mount Kliment Ohridski) in northwestern Alexander Island. Situated SSE of Havre Mountains, SW of Rouen Mountains, NW of Elgar Uplands, E of the northern part of Lassus Mountains, and 6 km inland from Lazarev Bay. Bounded by Palestrina Glacier to the N, the 8-km long, ice-filled Poste Valley to the E, Nichols Snowfield to the SE, Gilbert Glacier to the S, and McManus Glacier to the W. The mountains include Balan Ridge to the NE, the ridge of Mount Braun (c. 900m) to the NW, and the ridge of Mount Kliment Ohridski to the S. UK mapping in 1960. Visited by a British-Bulgarian party in 1988. Named in commemoration of the centennial of Sofia University.
