rising to c. 1300m and including Neny Matterhorn, Little Thumb and The Spire, S of Neny Fjord, Fallières Coast, were roughly mapped by BGLE in 1936 (Stephenson, 1940, map facing p.232); called Climbing Range (Latady, 1949a, p.236); resurveyed by FIDS from "Stonington Island", 1948-49, and named from the black cliffs on the SW side (Adie, 1954, p.16; APC, 1955, p.5; DCS 601 sheet 68 66, 1955). Mountains rising to 1,370 m, extending in a WNW-ESE direction for 5 mi and lying close S of Neny Fjord on the W coast of Graham Land. They are bounded to the E by Remus Glacier, to the S by Romulus Glacier, and are separated from Red Rock Ridge to the W by Safety Col. First roughly surveyed in 1936 by the BGLE under Rymill. Resurveyed in 1948-49 by the FIDS, and so named by them because the black cliffs of the mountains facing Rymill Bay remain snow free throughout the year. |

A mountain about 22 km south of Taylor Platform in the Prince Charles Mountains. The mountain, which is about 14 km long is divided in the south by a small, plateau-fed glacier. The northern part of the mountain has an area of moraine extending eastwards for about 12.8 km. Plotted from ANARE air photographs taken in 1956 and 1960. Named after J.H. Lanyon, Officer-in-Charge at Wilkes in 1965. |
