in NW entrance of Stella Creek, between Winter Island and Faraday, Galindez Island, Argentine Islands, was charted by BGLE, 1935-36, and named descriptively Thumb Island (Fleming and others, 1938, map facing p.576; BA chart 3213, 7.ii.1947). Isla Pulgar [translation of English name] (Argentina. MM, 1953, p.291). Thumb Islet (BA, 1948, p.202; APC, 1955, p.21). Thumb Rock (APC, 1959a, p.12; BA chart 3213, 12.viii.1960; 22.ix.1967). Islote Thumb (Chile. DNH, 1962, p.179; IHA, 1974, p.277). The rock was recharted by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit from HMS Protector, 1964-65. Punta [sic] Pulgar, in error (Pierrou, 1970, p.607). |
