The smaller of two partly snow-covered mountains in the western extension of the Athos Range, Prince Charles Mountains, about 28 km south-west of Mount Starlight. Recorded on terrestrial photographs taken by R.H. Lacey, surveyor at Mawson in 1955, and aerial photography by ANARE in 1959 and 1965. Named after W.L. Turnbull, radio supervisor at Mawson in 1965.
