between Petermann Island and Myriad Islands, and S of Dannebrog Islands (q.v.), Wilhelm Archipelago, were roughly charted by BeAE, 12 February 1898, when the name Île Vedel was applied to the largest island in the group (the feature earlier called Friedburg Insel, q.v.), probably after a supporter of the expedition (Lecointe, map, 1899; 1900b, map facing p.132); further charted by FAE, 1903-05, in 1904 and by FAE, 1908-10, in 1909. Group of small islands lying 2 mi W of Hovgaard Island in the Wilhelm Archipelago. The largest island of this group was discovered in 1898 and given the name Vedel by the BelgAE under Gerlache. The FrAE under Charcot charted the remaining islands in 1904, and again in 1909, when the name was extended to include the entire group.

El mayor de este grupo de islotes fue descubierto en 1898 y le dio el nombre de Vedel la Expedición Belga al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, el Dr. Jean B. Charcot cartografió el resto de los islotes en 1904, y nuevamente en 1909, fue entonces cuando extendió el nombre de Vedel al grupo.
