Built (in the Austral summer 1986-87) on a peninsula with NS direction along the coast of the Northern Foothills south of Gerlache Inlet (Northern Victoria Land), between Campbell Glacier Tongue and Drygalski Glacier Tongue. Renamed in 2004 "Mario Zucchelli", leader of the Italian Antarctic Programme from 1987 till his death in 2003. The former name was Baia Terra Nova.
