Bay nearly 3 mi long in the NE part of Flandres Bay, along the W coast of Graham Land. Charted by the FrAE (1903-05) and named by Charcot for Aristide Briand (1862-1932), French statesman and Minister of Public Instruction in 1906.

Fue explorada por la Expedición Antártica Belga de 1897-1899, al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache, aunque en esa ocasión no recibió nombre. Fue cartografiada por la Expedición Antártica Francesa de 1903-1905, al mando de Charcot, quien le puso el nombre por el apellido de A. Briand, en ese entonces ministro de Educación de Francia. Esta bahía de una milla de ancho por dos de saco, es la de más al N de las bahías que se abren sobre la costa oriental de la bahía Flandres, costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.

A rock outcrop about 9 km south-east of Mount Biscoe in Enderby Land. Discovered on 13 or 14 Janujary, 1930, by BANZARE under Sir Douglas Mawson, who named it after Dr. J.M. Wordie, a member of Shackleton's 1914-16 expedition.
