The S part of the former Falkland Islands Dependencies (Hattersley-Smith, 1980b, p.5, 38) was named British Antarctic Territory and constituted as a separate colony by Order in Council dated 26 February 1962, following its inclusion in the Antarctic Treaty area in 1961 (Great Britain. Privy Council, 1962; APC, 1962, p.7; DOS 813 British Antarctic Territory sheet, 1963). |
