Descubierto por la Expedición Antártica Sueca de 1901-1903, al mando de Nordenskjöld, quien le puso el nombre por el apellido de G.E. Broms, un patrocinador de la expedición. Cabo que marca el lado S de la entrada a la bahía Röhss, en la costa SW de la isla Ross, frente a la costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.

SW James Ross Island, was mapped by SwAE in October 1903 and named Kap Broms after Konsul C.E.Broms, of Stockholm, who contributed to the cost of the expedition (Nordenskjöld and others, 1904b, Vol. 2, first end map). Cabo Brom [sic] (Nordenskjöld and others, 1904-05, Tomo 1, end map). Cape Broms (Nordenskjöld and others, 1905, map facing p.316; BA chart 3205, 31.x.1921; APC, 1955, p.6; BAS 250 sheet SQ 21-22/1 (Ext.), 1-DOS 1974). Cabo Broms (Riso Patron S., 1908, end map; Pierrou, 1970, p.217; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.56). Cap Broms (Charcot, 1912, Pl. 1). Kapp Broms (HA chart, 1928). The cape was surveyed by FIDS from "Hope Bay", 1952-55.

Cape which marks the S side of the entrance to Rohss Bay on the W side of James Ross Island, off the NE end of Antarctic Peninsula. Discovered by the SwedAE, 1901-04, under Nordenskjold, who named it for G.E. Broms, a patron of the expedition.

A group of nunataks on the eastern side of the southern part of the Amery Ice Shelf, about 39 km NNE of Pickering Nunatak. Photographed by ANARE aircraft in 1957. Named after Sgt. S.A. Manning, RAAF, airframe fitter at Mawson in 1958.
