A low cape forming the southern entrance to New Harbour, in Victoria Land. It is 28 1/2 miles west of Cape Evans and 35 miles west of Hut Point. Discovered by the NAE, 1901-04, and named because the Ferrar Glacier Party left a tin of butter there in October 1903 in anticipation of obtaining seal meat at this point on their return journey.

Low point forming the S side of the entrance to New Harbor on the coast of Victoria Land. Discovered by the BrNAE (1901-04) under Scott. So named by them because the Ferrar Glacier party left a tin of butter here, in anticipation of obtaining fresh seal meat at this point on the return journey.

An ice plateau, exceeding 1,800 m above sea level, about 22 km long and 7 km wide, extending northward from Mount Egerton and Kiwi Pass to the vicinity of Mount Hamilton. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named by USACAN after Cdr. D.F. Kent, USN, logistics officer to Admiral Dufek at the outset of USN Operation Deepfreeze in 1956-57.
