Rocky island 0.25 mi long lying 0.1 mi S of Petrel Island in the Geologie Archipelago. Charted in 1950 by the FrAE and named by them for Alexis Carrel (1873-1944), noted French surgeon and physiologist.

A gently-rising snow-covered feature, the main ridge of which runs north-east to south-west with exposed rock faces on the south-east slopes. It is about 24 km north-west of Rayner Peak in Kemp Land. Plotted from ANARE air photographs. Named after Edward Nash, aircraft engineer with the ANARE Expedition on the MV Nella Dan led by Phillip Law in 1965.

Anciennement Île Alexis-Carrel; nom donné en hommage à Pascal Le Mauguen, responsable technique à l'Institut français pour la recherche et la technologie polaires (IFRTP), décédé dans un accident d'hélicoptère le 8 février 1999.
