mainly submerged N of Aitcho Islands, English Strait. Following survey from the Chilean patrol ship Lautaro (Capt. José Duarte Villaroel) on CAE, 1949, the names Banco Cocheco [from the diminutive for José, the captain's name], Roca Cuca [from the diminutive name for the wife of a CAE officer] and Roca Ripin [from the nickname of one of the captain's daughters] were applied to unidentified parts of this feature (Chile. DNH chart 1405, 1949-50; IHA, 1974, p.79, 89, 242). The reef was resurveyed by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit from HMS Protector in 1967 and named descriptively Chaos Reef (APC, 1974, p.3; BA, 1972, p.48; BA chart 1771, 8.vi.1990)

A descriptive name for the confused area of breakers and shoal water located 0.7 mi NE of Morris Rock, at the N end of Aitcho Islands in the South Shetland Islands The name was given by UK-APC in 1971.

The Subglacial Highlands underlie the eastern boundary of the Australian Antarctic Territory with Terre Adilie and run NNW-SSE. They separate the Adventure Subglacial Trench from the Wilkes Subglacial Basin. Discovered and mapped by radio echo sounding by the Scott Polar Research Institute. Named after HMS Resolution command ship of the British Naval Expedition 1772-75.
