NW side of Mill Inlet, Foyn Coast, was photographed from the air by RARE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in 1947; in association with the names of Antarctic bibliographers grouped in this area, named after Josef Chavanne (1846-1902), Austrian polar bibliographer, joint author with A. Karpf (Karpf Point, q.v.) and F.R. v. Le Monnier (Monnier Point, q.v.) of Die Literatur ber die Polar-Regionen der Erde (Wien, 1878) (APC, 1955, p.7; BA chart 3570, 27.vi.1952; DCS 601 sheet 66 64, 1955). Cabo Chavanne (Argentina. Fue cartografiado por el FIDS y fotografiado desde el aire por el RARE en 1947. El nombre fue puesto por el FIDS y recuerda a Josef Chavanne, bibliógrafo polar austriaco. Morro prominente, de aproximadamente 1.250 metros de elevación, que termina hacia el S en un arrecife en forma de T, situado en el lado E de la boca del glaciar Breitfuss, en la ensenada Mill, costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. |
