Eduard Dallmann (1830-96), commanding the expedition ship Grönland (Petermann, map, 1875b; Friederichsen, 1895, Tafel 7 facing p.304). Dalmann [sic] Bay (Bartholomew, map, 1898). Baie de Dallmann (Gerlache, 1902b, p.141). Dallmann Bay (BA chart 1238, ix.1908; APC, 1955, p.8; BA chart 3570, 29.ix.1961). The bay was resurveyed by FAE, 1903-05 and 1908-10. Eduard Dallmann. Named for Dallmann by the Society for Polar Navigation, Hamburg, which sponsored Dallmann's Antarctic exploration. Later charted by the FrAE, 1903-05, under Charcot. |

Fue descubierta en 1874 por el capitán ballenero alemán Eduard Dallmann, quien levantó un croquis de esta bahía. El nombre le fue dado por la Sociedad de Navegación Polar de Hamburgo en honor a Dallmann. Esta sociedad respaldó las exploraciones antárticas del capitán ballenero. La Expedición Antártica Francesa de 1903-1905, al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, efectuó un levantamiento de esta bahía. En algunas cartas de 1947 figuró como bahía Dallman.
