The southeastern most knoll in a group of three knolls (Andenes, Explora and Polarstern) in the Weddell Sea. Named for the Norwegian coast-guard vessel K.V. Andenes. Prominent cliffs rising from the Marsh Glacier in the southern part of the Queen Elizabeth Range (Ross Dependency) just north of Law Glacier. Discovered on 26 December, 1957, by the Southern Survey Party of the New Zealand component of the TAE (1956-58). Named after N. Sandford, IGY scientist at Scott Base in 1957.
