in NE Marguerite Bay, Fallières Coast, comprising Ann, Audrey, Barbara, Barry, Brian and June islands, were seen from the air by BGLE on 27 February and surveyed from the ground in March-May 1936; named after Frank Debenham (1883-1965), surveyor on BAE, 1910-13 (Capt. R. F. Scott, RN); Founder and first Director, SPRI, 1925-46; Professor of Geography, Cambridge University, 1930-49; member of BGLE Advisory Committee (Rymill, 1938a, photograph facing p.310, map facing p.432; BA chart 3213, 7.ii.1947; APC, 1955, p.8; DCS 601 sheet 68 66, 1955). The individual islands in the group were named after Prof. Debenham's six children, and the BGLE base for 1936-37 was established on Barry Island (q.v.). Discovered and named by the BGLE, 1934-37, under Rymill; the BGLE base was on Barry Island, in the center of the group, during part of this time. Named for Frank Debenham, who served as member of the BGLE Advisory Committee. |

Fueron descubiertas y denominadas por la BGLE, 1934-1937, al mando de John Rymill, el nombre fue puesto por Frank Debenham, quien sirvió como miembro del Comité Asesor Belga. Forman un grupo de cuatro islas situadas en el canalizo de 12 cables de ancho que separan la punta extremo NE de isla Millerand del continente; estas islas a su vez están rodeadas de islotes menores, rocas y bajos fondos, que impiden la navegación entre ellos. Las islas son bajas de piedra descubiertas en verano. En invierno las cubre una capa de hielo, lo mismo al mar que las rodea. |
