Fue avistado probablemente por primera vez por la Expedición Belga de 1897-1899, al mando del teniente Adrien de Gerlache. Fue cartografiado por la Expedición Francesa de 1903-1905 al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, y quien le dio según parece los nombres de los hermanos Demaria, franceses que desarrollaron unos lentes anastigmáticos usados en la parte fotográfica de la expedición. Monte con laderas escarpadas de unos 610 metros de altura que se levanta inmediatamente al SE de cabo Tuxen en la costa W de Tierra de O'Higgins. |

rising to 640m SE of Cape Tuxen, Graham Coast, was roughly mapped by FAE, 1903-05, and named Sommet Demaria, after the brothers Demaria, French developers of an anastigmatic lens used by the expedition's photographers (Charcot, 1906b , p.474); further mapped by FAE, 1908-10 (Charcot, 1910, map, p.266).
