W arm of Admiralty Bay, King George Island, was charted by FAE, 1908-10, in December 1909 and named Fiord Ezcurra after Pedro de Ezcurra (1859-1911), Argentine politician and Minister of Agriculture in 1908, who assisted FAE (Charcot, 1912, Pl.1). Fjord Ezcurra (Bongrain, 1914, Pl.3 (upper photograph) following p.60). Ezcurra Fiord (Tyrrell, 1921, p.71). Ezcurra Inlet (BA chart 3213, 14.i.1929; APC, 1955, p.9; DOS 610 sheet W 62 58, 1968). Fue denominada probablemente por la Expedición Antártica Francesa, 1908-1910 al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot, quien cartografió la bahía Almirantazgo en diciembre de 1908, en recuerdo del ministro de Agricultura Argentino, Pedro de Ezcurra. Ensenada que se forma sobre la costa occidental de la bahía Almirantazgo. Las costas de la ensenada son acantiladas salvo en punta Thomas, sus aguas son profundas y limpias. |
