An ice-covered cape which forms the W extremity of Thurston Island. Discovered by R. Admiral Byrd and members of the USAS in a flight from the Bear, February 1940. Named by US-SCAN for the USEE ship Flying Fish, commanded by Lt. William M. Walker, USN, which reached a point within 125 mi of this cape; the ship's position on the morning of Mar. 23, 1839 was 7000S, 10016W. |
