NE of Cape Worsley, Nordenskjöld Coast, was roughly surveyed by SwAE in 1902 and called Cabo Ruth (Nordenskjöld and others, 1904-05, Tomo 1, end map); photographed from the air by FIDASE, 1956-57, and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Hope Bay", 1960-61; named after Ian Ledgard Fothergill (b. 1937), FIDS meteorologist, "Hope Bay", 1960-62 (Base Leader, 1961-62) (APC, 1964, p.3; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974).
