COMPOSITE GAZETTEER OF ANTARCTICA

rising to 1570m between Anderson Glacier and Sleepnir Glacier, Foyn Coast, was photographed from the air by RARE and surveyed from the ground by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in 1947; in association with Mount Odin (q.v.), named after the Norse goddess Frigga, the "cloud spinner", because cloud was observed to form on the summit of this peak earlier than on any other feature in the vicinity (BA chart 3570, 27.vi.1952; APC, 1955, p.10; DCS 601 sheet 66 62, 1955). Peak, 1,570 m, which stands at the S side of Anderson Glacier on the E coast of Graham Land. Charted by the FIDS and photographed from the air by the RARE in 1947. The FIDS named it after the mythological Norse goddess Frigga, the "cloud spinner," because cloud was observed to form on the summit of this peak earlier than on any other feature in this vicinity.

Cartografiada por el FIDS y fotografiada desde el aire por el RARE, en 1947. El FIDS le puso el nombre de la diosa mitológica escandinava Frigga, la "tejedora de las nubes", debido a que se observó la formación de una nube en la cumbre de esta montaña antes que en cualquier otro acciden te en la vecindad. El nombre actual corresponde al del barco factoría ballenero chileno "Orión", de 2.349 toneladas, integrante de la flota de Adolfo Andresen, con base en Punta Arenas, Chile, en 1914. Montaña de aproximadamente 1.570 metros de elevación, que se levanta al lado S del glaciar Anderson, a aproximadamente 6 millas a WNW de la punta Balder, en la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
