An ice shelf on the coast of Oates Land. Mapped from air photographs taken by the US Navy. Named after Cmdr. C.R. Gillett, USCG, who served on the icebreaker Burton Island from December 1966 until June 1968, and as Ships Operations Officer on the staff of the Naval Support Force, Antarctica, from June 1968 until May 1970.

Mapped by USGS from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-63. Named by US-ACAN for Capt. Clarence R. Gillett, USCG, who served on the USCGC operations, Dec. 1966 to May 1970.
