rising to 500m in NW Elephant Island, was surveyed by JSEEIG in December 1970; called descriptively The Pap (Agnew in Burley, 1971, Annex J, p.3); named from its shape Hammer Hill (DOS 610 sheet W 61 54 (Ext.), 1-GSGS 1972; APC, 1974, p.4). Colina Martillo [translation of English name] (Argentina MM chart H-710, 1977). The Brazilian refuge "Engenheiro Wiltgen" was established near the hill in January 1985.
