En el extremo S de península Bowman y en la entrada oriental de isla Gardner. Descubierta por la RARE 1947-48 comandada por Ronne, quien lo bautizó en homenaje al Teniente Charles J. Adams de la USAAF, piloto de la expedición. Extraído de la relación de toponimia antártica y adoptado en cartografía y publicaciones en julio de 1959. Figuró por primera vez en la carta N"P"-1 del año 1952 y fue publicado en TSAA2. SHN carta H-7.

Fue descubierto por la Expedición Antártica de los Estados Unidos de Norteamérica de 1947-1948, al mando del capitán de fragata Finn Ronne, USNR, en el buque expedicionario "Port of Beaumont", Texas. Ronne le puso el nombre por el teniente Charles J. Adams, USAAF, piloto de la expedición. Cabo acantilado de roca desnuda que constituye el extremo S de la península Bowman y el lado N de la entrada a ensenada Gardner, en la costa oriental de la Tierra de O'Higgins.

S tip of Bowman Peninsula and E entrance point of Gardner Inlet, dividing Lassiter Coast from Orville Coast, was photographed from the air by RARE, 21 November 1947 (Ronne, 1948b, p.372 and photograph Fig. 22, p. 379 [wrongly captioned but showing Gardner Inlet with Cape Adams on the extreme right]); sighted from the ground but not precisely located by FIDS from Stonington Island in December 1947; named Cape Charles J. Adams, after Lieut. Charles J. Adams, USAAF, one of the RARE pilots, and shown in c. 75°03'S 61°50'W (AGS map, 1948). Abrupt rock scarp marking the S tip of Bowman Peninsula and forming the N side of the entrance to Gardner Inlet, on the E coast of Palmer Land. Discovered by the RARE, 1947-48, under Ronne, and named by him for Lt. Charles J. Adams of the then USAAF, pilot with the expedition.

A bay just south of Davis station in the Vestfold Hills. It is about 2 km long, 0.5 km wide at the entrance. Mapped by Norwegian cartographers from air photographs taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition (1937-57). First visited by an ANARE party led by Phillip Law from the Kista Dan on 11 January, 1957.
