rising 32m above sea level, in Bransfield Strait, NW of Trinity Island, were roughly charted by Foster in January-March 1829; named Austin Group (Foster and Kendall, chart, 1829a) or Austin's Group (Foster, [1829]), after Lieut. Horatio Thomas Austin, RN (1801-65), First Lieutenant in HMS Chanticleer, who first sighted them. Austin Islands (SDUK, map, 1838). Group of rocks which extend about 3 mi in a NE-SW direction, lying in Bransfield Strait 13 mi NW of Trinity Island. Charted by a British expedition, 1828-31, under Cdr. Henry Foster, RN, and named by him for Lt. Horatio T. Austin, RN, an officer of the expedition. |

Estas rocas fueron cartografiadas por la Expedición Antártica Británica de 1828-1831, al mando del capitán de navío Henry Foster, RN, en el buque "Chanticleer", quien les puso el nombre por el apellido del teniente H.F. Austin, oficial de la expedición. En algunas cartas chilenas antiguas figuraron como rocas Agustín. Es un grupo de rocas que se extiende por 3 millas en dirección ENE-WSW, sobre el eje del estrecho Bransfield, a 15 millas al NW de la punta Cóndor de la isla Trinidad. |

The prominent bare hill which comprises the entire southern end of Gardner Island and is surmounted by a monumented survey control point. It is named as a memorial to Stephen Bunning, foreman of the Station Building Group who was critically injured in an explosion at Davis in October 1985 and who died while being evacuated. |
