E side of Discovery Bay, Greenwich Island, between Guesalaga Peninsula (q.v.) and González Island, was charted by CAE in 1947, and named Caletón Iquique after the Chilean naval frigate Iquique, which in that season landed the first occupation party for the Chilean station "Arturo Prat" on the cove (Chile. DNH chart 500, 1951; IHA, 1974, p.160); recharted by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit from HMS Protector in 1964. Iquique Cove (BA, 1965, p.30; chart 1774, 19.vii.1968; APC, 1974, p.4).

A small cove in the E side of Discovery Bay, Greenwich Island, South Shetland Islands. The cove is immediately adjacent to the Arturo Prat Station on Guesalaga Peninsula. Named by Chile after the naval frigate Iquique which landed the first occupation party here in 1947.

Denominado así durante la primera Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1947, al mando del comodoro capitán de navío Federico Guesalaga Toro. Se forma sobre la costa W de puerto Foster, al S de punta Wensley; amplia ensenada que mide 16 cables de ancho en su boca por 9 de saco, de gran profundidad y fondo parejo. Las costas occidentales y S del surgidero están formadas por una extensa playa, de arena gruesa de origen volcánico.
