W point of Doumer Island and E entrance point of S end of Neumayer Channel, was roughly charted by FAE, 1903-05; further charted by DI in 1927 and named after Dr Stanley Wells Kemp (1882-1945), British marine biologist and Director of Research for DI, 1924-36; Discovery, 1925-27, Discovery II, 1929-31; Director, Plymouth Marine Laboratory, 1936-45 (BA chart 3213, 14.i.1929; APC, 1955, p.13; BA chart 3572, 25.vii.1958). Cap Kemp (France. SHM, 1937, p.406). Camp [sic] Kemp (USHO, 1943, p.132). The cape was surveyed by FIDS from "Port Lockroy" in 1944. Cabo Kemp (Argentina. MM chart 106, 1949; Pierrou, 1970, p.457; Chile. IHA, 1974, p.170). The cape was recharted by an RN Hydrographic Survey Unit, 1956-58.

Cape forming the SW tip of Doumer Island, in the Palmer Archipelago. First charted by the FrAE 1903-05, under Charcot. Various islands of the Palmer Archipelago were charted in 1927 by DI personnel on the Discovery, and this cape was subsequently named for Dr. Stanley W. Kemp, British marine biologist and oceanographer, who was scientific leader on the Discovery.

Fue descubierto y cartografiado por primera vez entre los años 1903-1905 en la Expedi ción Francesa, al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot. Varias islas del archipiélago de Palmer fueron cartografiadas en 1927 por el personal de la Discovery y este cabo fue posteriormente denominado en esta forma por Stanley W. Kemp biólogo y oceanógrafo británico y jefe científico de la Discovery. Cabo que limita por el W la entrada a bahía South, situado en la extremidad SW de isla Doumer en el archipiélago de Palmer.
