(APC, 1960, p.5; BA chart 1774, 14.ix.1962; DOS 610 sheet W 62 58, 1968).

Named by the UK-APC in 1960 for Alexander Lange (1860-1922), Norwegian pioneer of modern steam whaling in the South Shetland Is. in 1905-6, and commander of the Admiralen.
