A lofty, rounded dome (1,755 m) in the NE part of Peter I Island. It marks the greatest elevation of the island. Peter I Island was discovered by Capt. Thaddeus Bellingshausen in January 1821 and viewed from a distance of 15 miles. The island was circumnavigated in January 1927 by the Norwegian whale catcher Christensen, Norwegian whaling magnate who sent out the vessel. |

La isla Pedro I fue descubierta y avistada desde una distancia de 15 millas, por una Expedición Rusa al mando del capitán Thaddeus Von Bellingshausen en enero del año 1821. La isla fue circunnavegada en enero de 1927 por una Expedición Noruega, dirigida por el capitán Edvynd Tofte, a bordo del "Odd I", la denominación fue impuesta por él en honor a Lars Christensen, magnate ballenero noruego quien financió la expedición. Monte de formación elevada y de cima redondeada de un cráter extinguido de 1.220 metros de altura que corona la isla Pedro I situada al NE de la isla Thurston. |
