COMPOSITE GAZETTEER OF ANTARCTICA

Ice-covered plateau bounded to the SW by Contell Glacier, to the SE and E by Castillo Nunatak (437m) and Burdick Ridge, and to the N by Perunika Glacier, Livingston Island. Long 3km in SW-NE direction, 2km wide, gently sloping NW toward the hills along Bulgarian Beach. Elevation from 150 to 280m. Spanish mapping of the area in 1991. A name of world culture and geography.

Ice-covered plateau, 50-280 m.a.s.l., 3km long from SW to NE and 2km wide, E Livingston Island, South Shetland Islands. Bounded on SW by Krum Rock and Contell Glacier, to the SE and E by the foothills of Nunatak del Castillo and Burdick Ridge, and to the N by lower Perunika Glacier; called Balkan Airfield (BGR text 1994). Balkan Snowfield (GBR text 1997).

An ice-covered plateau of elevation from 150 to 280 m in eastern Livingston Island, 3,000 m long in SW-NE direction and 2,000 m wide. Bounded to the SW by Velchev Rock and upper Contell Glacier, to the SE and E by the foots of Castillo Nunatak and Burdick Ridge and to the N by the lower course of Perunika Glacier. Sloping gently northwestward, its foot bounded by the hills along Bulgarian Beach.

A small island off the southern end of Honkala Island in the Swain Group, Windmill Islands. The region was photographed by U S N Operation Highjump (1946-47), ANARE (1956) and the Soviet Antarctic Expedition (1956). It was included in a survey of the islands north of Wilkes carried out by C R Eklund, scientific leader at Wilkes in 1958. Named by USACAN.
