off NW tip of Lahille Island, Graham Coast, were roughly charted by FAE, 1903-05, as a single island which was named IÎle Lippmann after Gabriel Lippmann (1845-1921), French physicist and Nobel Laureate in physics, 1908; member of the Commission des Travaux Scientifiques of FAE, 1908-10 (Charcot, 1906a, map facing p.316). Group of small islands 2 mi in extent, lying close NW of Lahille Island off the W coast of Graham Land. Originally mapped as a single island by the FrAE, 1903-05, under Charcot, and named by him for Gabriel Lippmann, French physicist and Nobel Prize winner.

Fue descubierto por la Expedición Francesa al mando de Jean B. Charcot, en 1903-1905, quien le dio el nombre por Gabriel Lippmann, físico francés y ganador del Premio Nobel en 1908. Islote cónico cubierto de nieve a unas 2 millas al N del extremo W de la isla Lahille y a 5 millas al NW de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
