in SW entrance of Admiralty Sound, between James Ross Island and Snow Hill Island, was seen from a distance by Ross, 7 January 1843, and called Cape Lockyer after Capt. Nicholas Lockyer, RN (1782-1847), a friend of Capt. F.R.M. Crozier, RN, commanding HMS Terror on Ross's expedition (BA chart 1238, 1844; Ross, 1847a, p.346 and map facing p.329). Cabo Fockyer [sic] (Spain. DH chart 458, 1861). Cap Lockyer (Friederichsen, 1895, Tafel 7 facing p.304). The feature was surveyed by SwAE, 9 March 1902, and its insularity proved. Cabo Lockyer, referring to the original name (Nordenskjöld, 1904c, p.13). Lockyer Insel (Nordenskjöld and others, 1904b, Vol.1, p.152). Isla Lockyer (Sobral, 1904, p.102; Pierrou, 1970, p.487; Chile. Island 2.5 mi long, lying off the S shore of James Ross Island in the SW entrance to Admiralty Sound. Named Cape Lockyer by Capt. James Clark Ross, Jan. 7, 1843, at the request of Capt. Francis R.M. Crozier in honor of the latter's friend, Capt. Nicholas Lockyer, RN. The insularity of the feature was determined by the SwedAE under Nordenskjold in 1902.

El 7 de enero de 1843 fue llamada cabo Lockyer por el capitán de navío James Clark Ross a pedido del capitán de navío Francis R.M. Crozier, en honor de su amigo capitán de navío Nicolás Lockyer R.N. La Expedición An tártica Sueca de Otto Nordenskjöld en 1902, demostró que era una isla. Isla que se alza al centro de la boca W del paso Almirantazgo, a 3,5 millas al SE de cabo Foster, mide 2,5 millas de extensión 460 metros de altura. Es de costas acantiladas, donde alternan los glaciares, con manchas de piedra desnuda, su cima está coronada por una cúpula de hielo.
