An ice-covered island, about 33 km long and 22 km wide, rising to about 471 m, within the Shackleton Ice Shelf, north-west of Henderson Island, off the coast of Queen Mary Land. Discovered by AAE (1911-14). Named by Sir Douglas Mawson after Sir David Orme Masson of Melbourne, a member of the AAE Advisory Committee.

Ice-covered island about 17 mi long and rising to 465 m, lying 9 mi NW of Henderson Island within the Shackleton Ice Shelf. Discovered in February 1912 by the AAE under Mawson, who named it for Prof. Sir David Orme Masson of Melbourne, a member of the AAE Advisory Committee.
