off entrance of Flandres Bay, Danco Coast, was charted by FAE, 1903-05, together with Littlespace Island (q.v.), and the two islands were named IÎles Ménier probably after a supporter of the expedition (Charcot, 1906b, p.475; Matha and Rey, 1911, Pl.3). The name of Guyou (Guyou Islands, q.v.) was later misapplied to the present feature. IÎle Guyou (Gourdon, 1908, end map). Guyou Ö (HA chart, 1928). Island, largest in a small island group lying in the mouth of Flandres Bay, 4 mi NE of Cape Renard, off the W coast of Graham Land. The island group was discovered by the FrAE under Charcot, 1903-05, who gave them the name "Iles Menier." The name Menier is here applied to the largest of these islands. |

El grupo de islas fue descubierto por la Expedición Francesa, dirigida por el Dr. Jean B. Charcot entre los años 1903-1905, quien le dio el nombre de la isla Ménier. El nombre Ménier se aplica aquí a la más grande de estas islas. Isla de aproximadamente de 7 cables de largo y 5 cables de ancho, la cual es la más grande de un pequeño grupo de las islas situadas cerca de la boca de bahía Flandres y aproximadamente 5 millas al NE de cabo Renard. Es una isla alta, cubierta casi completamente de nieve. |
