El personal de la DI, en el "Discovery II", que cartografió esta punta en 1935, le habría puesto el nombre Cornwall Point. El nombre actual corresponde al apellido del cabo (Mq.) Jorge Cornejo Galaz del AP. "Piloto Pardo" de la Armada de Chile, quien participó en la reparación de emergencia de los alternadores, lo que permitió al buque seguir operativo en la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1962. Punta conspicua que se ubica a aproximadamente 1,5 milla al NE del cabo Morris, en el lado NW de la isla Robert, en las islas Shetland del Sur. |

E entrance point of Carlota Cove, Robert Island, was charted by DI in 1935 and called in error Cornwall Point (Cornwall Island, q.v.) (BA chart 1774, 9.vii.1948; APC, 1955, p.7; BA chart 1774, 19.vii.1968). Punta Cornwall (Argentina. MM chart 138, 1957; Pierrou, 1970, p.268). The point was photographed from the air by FIDASE in 1956 and recharted by an RN Hydrographic survey Unit from HMS Protector in 1967; renamed Misnomer Point in reference to the previous misnaming (BA, 1972, p.48; APC, 1974, p.5). |

A point immediately N of Carlota Cove on the W coast of Robert Island, South Shetland Islands. So named by UK-APC in 1971. For several years this feature was identified incorrectly on charts as "Cornwall Point," a variant form of the name originally given to nearby Cornwall Island. |
