Delineated from air photos taken by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47). Named by US-ACAN for William H. Morse, purser's steward on the brig Porpoise of the USEE (1838-42) under Wilkes. Due to an inadvertent error, this placename was incorrectly spelled "Cape Mose" for a number of years.
